Note that accurate analysis requires that specific sample preparation and conditioning steps are performed, e.g. samples may need to be homogenised before testing. Thus there may be a hard limit on how quickly some tests can be completed. Having said that, it may be possible to speed things up if sufficient quantity of oil has been provided, allowing for testing in parallel. In some situations a test may have a run time of 5-7 days (e.g. MPC, biological culturing, etc.), however urgent analysis means that the process will be started as soon as possible.
Please make sure to label exterior of any packages containing urgent samples as such, and, where possible, inform lab of the arrival time and sample quantity. Don’t forget to clearly mark urgent samples if sending a mixture of emergency and routine samples, use the “Urgent” tick boxes on sample dockets or include a note/covering letter.
