Testing unused or virgin oils may sound pointless, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. It isn’t uncommon for incorrect oils to be delivered due to mix ups during manufacturing or distribution. Contamination in transit or storage is another cause for concern. It is also important to establish baseline values against which in-service oils are then monitored. What’s included?

Sample Bottle

Quality analysis starts with a quality sample, which is why we always offer to supply sampling bottles to suite your needs. We will provide a sampling bottle, label and an overspill bag free of charge, or you can use your own provided it is new and clean. To make your life easier we will include a Freepost return label so you don’t have to worry about postage. Check out our Knowledge Base section for advice on sampling and shipping.

Our Package B or Package E Oil Analysis suites

Package B is the routine suite for hydraulic and turbine oils, as well as for any systems where high cleanliness levels are required. It will confirm oil grade and cleanliness level and will help establish baseline values for a range of parameters. The following tests are included:

• Viscosity at 40 degrees C
• Acid Number
• Elemental Analysis
• PQ Index
• Water Content
• ISO Cleanliness Code by Patch Test Method

For engine oils Package E provides additional Viscosity measurement at 100 degrees C and the Base Number measurement

• Viscosity at 40 and 100 degrees C
• Acid Number
• Elemental Analysis
• PQ Index
• Water Content
• Base Number

Both test suites require ~75-100 ml of oil.

Reports will be provided electronically as a .pdf file, typically within 3-5 days from the receipt of sample.
